Growing up in a college town, Sarah could have easily stayed home for her education, but she knew she wanted something different—something that would challenge her to grow in new ways.

In the fall of 2023, she arrived at UNC Wilmington eager to dive into college life. She threw herself into academics, field hockey, and every opportunity the university had to offer. Amidst the excitement of a fresh start, she found Abbi, someone she had met over the summer at Massanetta Springs. One day, in the middle of a conversation about faith and finding community, Abbi mentioned a new campus ministry: WingspanILM.

“I knew I wanted an affirming and open campus ministry experience,” Sarah reflects. “If it weren’t for Wingspan providing that space, I wouldn’t have continued my faith journey in college. Inclusivity is non-negotiable for me.”

Through Wingspan, Sarah didn’t just find a place to worship—she found a home. In a season of life filled with transition and uncertainty, she discovered a group of friends she might never have met otherwise—friends who come from different backgrounds but are united in their shared belief in Jesus Christ.

Like many college students, Sarah juggles a packed schedule—classes, club meetings, time with friends, and the ever-elusive moments for self-care. Yet, even with the demands of college life, Wingspan remains a priority. “I’m pretty busy, but Wingspan doesn’t add to my stress level,” Sarah shares, “It’s a break from the chaos—a soft place to land.”

For Sarah and so many others, Wingspan is more than a campus ministry—it’s a place of belonging, rest, and fulfilling their faith. Your support ensures that students like Sarah continue to find a community where they are seen, valued, and strengthened in their journey.
